Mysterious story - A Twist of Fate

It was Friday 13th the last class of the day, and the last day of block. What we didn’t know was that it could have been the last day of our lives.

Miss Miller walked to the class, smiling and greeting us. Maybe the looks of our faces led her to the conclusion that at least a half of us didn’t have homework. But she was wrong – all of us (including Barborka) didn’t have the homework. She sighted and shook her head, getting disappointed. "I know it’s Friday last period but it doesn’t mean you need not have your homework", she said. The whole class tried to look invisible pretending they were not there. Miss Miller continued: "My plan for this class was to work with your homework but since you don’t have it" – she paused, shooting angry looks at everybody - " we have to do something else." The class was glad she didn’t mention anything about getting 0 percent and as if she knew what they were thinking about she added: "And of course, you all got 0 percent in your homework section." Marek quietly cursed in Slovak so she shot him another warning look. "What did you say?" she asked. Marek smiled: "Uhm, I am praying?" "Good timing" she said. "Lets go out!" Lea suggested and everyone nodded but Miss Miller. "Alright. We will go out since you have ruined my entire class." Everybody cheered and after few minutes they all wondered around the school, chatting about lunch, life and love. Few minutes later, they heard a loud and annoying sound coming from the school. "What’s that?" David asked. "It sounds like someone’s singing!" Ola joked. "Probably our lovely grammar teacher," Michelle grinned. "No", Helga said. "It’s the fire alarm." As she said, people began to leave the school, few of them running in their direction. "What’s happening?" Niko asked Roman who ran towards them.
"There’s fire in the school" he shouted. "What did he say?" Miss Miller asked. "Uhm, fire!” Roman repeated. „FIRE!" "Yes the room 25 is on fire" Teresa, who came with Roman added. "My room?" Miss Miller shocked. Well. I don’t blame her for that.

After the firemen stopped the fire and everyone calmed down, Silvia came to Miss Miller. "See? We saved our lives!" She smiled. "Your life!" Michelle added innocently. "OK, got it. You will get 50 percent.”
